Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use store-bought date caramel?

Absolutely! If you’re short on time, you can use a store-bought date caramel, but I highly recommend using my homemade date caramel sauce for the best flavor and texture.

What protein powder works best?

A vanilla protein powder works best for this recipe since it complements the caramel and chocolate flavors. Whey, whey isolate, or a plant-based protein powder should all work, though the texture may vary slightly depending on the brand.

Can I use a different nut?

Yes! Chopped almonds, cashews, or pecans are all delicious alternatives, but roasted salted peanuts give this bark its classic Snickers-inspired flavor.

How should I store No-Bake Snickers Protein Bark?

Store the bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week. For longer storage, freeze it for up to 3 months and thaw for a few minutes before enjoying.

Can I make this dairy-free?

Yes! Simply use a dairy-free chocolate for the topping and a dairy-free milk in the homemade date caramel sauce.

Can I skip the protein powder?

The protein powder helps create the texture of the base, so I don’t recommend leaving it out without making additional adjustments. If you’d like to omit it, you may need a bit more almond flour and a small amount of extra maple syrup to achieve the right consistency.

Why won’t my base hold together?

If your mixture seems dry, the protein powder may be absorbing more moisture than expected. Add 1–2 teaspoons of maple syrup or melted coconut oil until the mixture easily presses together.

My favorite protein powder

For the best flavor and texture, I love using FlavCity Vanilla Protein Powder. It has a delicious vanilla flavor that complements the peanut butter perfectly, and it’s made with simple, high quality ingredients, including grass-fed whey protein.

If you’re looking for a clean protein powder that tastes great in both snacks and smoothies, this is one I highly recommend.
